Gentle Yoga for Seniors
Fridays at 10:00am

A class specifically for active seniors, this slow, mindful 1 hr class includes gentle warmups, creative chair yoga, supported standing poses, gentle stretches and a sweet deep relaxation. I offer plenty of modifications with props so you can practice safely while getting all the wonderful benefits of yoga. Leave feeling capable, restored and relaxed.

Restorative Yoga Workshop

Sunday, Oct 10th, 3:00-5:00pm
On Zoom, from the comfort of your own space

This Columbus Day weekend, give yourself the gift of Restorative Yoga and take a mini “staycation”! Restorative Yoga is a practice of passive stretches and deep breathing, supported by props (see list below). During this slow and mindful practice, we'll quell anxiety & tension, calm the nervous system, and allow the body to unwind on profound levels. This is time to slow down, quiet the mind and let go. You’ll learn how to safely and effectively practice Restorative Yoga poses, and how to get creative with your props so you can experience true support, comfort and release. This workshop is less about “doing” and more about “being” - the complete antidote to our stressful, busy lives! Join us for two blissful hours, online from the comfort of your own home (or wherever you may be), with Gloria’s clear & compassionate guidance, insightful instruction and healing presence. You’ll leave feeling nourished & relaxed.

Preparation for Restorative Yoga:

  • Plan to carve out this time for yourself and create a peaceful space to practice. Turn off your phone ringer and notifications if you’re viewing on your laptop, iPad or desktop computer to reduce possible distractions.

  • Wear comfortable layers & socks, and wait until afterwards to eat.

  • Please round up the props below

Props for Restorative Yoga:

Gather the following props so we can get creative with what we have around the house, and create the most support and comfort in your practice

  • Yoga Mat (or even two, for extra comfort)

  • 2-3 Yoga Blocks

  • Yoga Tie or long scarf (at least 7-8 ft long)

  • 1-2 firm blankets or 2 large beach towels, which can be rolled or folded and can serve as support in various poses

  • 2 firm pillows/cushions. Think throw pillows from your couch, or maybe even long pillows or oblong rolls

  • Eye pillow or pillow case to cover your eyes

  • Yoga Bolster if you have one

Zoom Tips:

  • Please plan to log into the online waiting room at least 5-10 minutes before our start time, so you can test your sound, say hello, etc.

  • Be sure your sound settings and speakers are working so you can hear clearly

  • Kindly mute your audio once class has begun.

  • We’ll connect in “Gallery View” and then switch to “Speaker View”, so you can see Gloria larger on your screen during our practice

  • Be sure your device is plugged in so you’ll have enough juice for a 2 hour practice.

  • Yoga Mat (or even two, for extra comfort)

  • 2 Yoga Blocks
